27. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
In darkest dispensations
Doth my faithful Lord appear,
With his richest consolations,
To reanimate and cheer:
Sweet affliction, sweet affliction,
Thus to bring my Savior near.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, though
the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. PSA. 46:2
28. God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength,
and my refuge, is in God. PSA. 62:7.
My spirit looks to God alone,
My rock and refuge is his throne;
In all my fears, in all my straits,
My soul on his salvation waits.
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. PSA. 62:8.
29. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you
up. JAS. 4:10.
Dear Father, if thy lifted rod
Resolve to scourge us here below,
Still we must lean upon our God,
Thine arm shall bear us safely through.
God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. JAS. 4:6.
